PRIVATE MUSIC INSTRUMENT LESSONS: TERMS, CONDITIONS AND RATES AND REGISTRATION valid from 1.8. 2023:

By enrolling you or your child for private music instrument lessons, you will indicate your acceptance of the following:

General information

• 1. Lessons will be of 30 or 45 or 60 minutes duration depending on the age and music grade.
• 2. Regular attendance is essential; missed lessons will affect progress.
• 3. Students are encouraged to take practical examinations conducted by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, held twice a year November and June.
• 4. All Students at each level will participate in the regular Private Lessons Recitals held in May/June. Family and friends are highly encouraged to attend.
• 5. SIMS reserves the right to take photos and videos of its public music events such as the annual student concerts, recitals or competitions and use them for marketing purposes (e.g. website, calendar, portfolios etc.). In case the student/parent do not wish to be photographed, must inform SIMS in advance.
• 6. Any email conversation with a teacher of SIMS will be only via the teacher´s business email and placed in the copy to info@simusic.ch
• 7. SIMS will advise on purchasing the music books and the student is solely responsible to order the recommended music resources.

Subscription & Invoicing

Fees will be invoiced every Term according to the following schedule:

• 1. TERM 1 (1.8.-31.12./15 lessons) Registration Fee: A non-refundable fee (35.00 CHF) is required at the time of first registration and will be added to your first invoice.
• 2. TERM 2 (1.1.- 31.7./20 lessons). Music recital fee: CHF 45.00 (per one student) will be added for each student to the 2nd Term invoice. The fee is due if the child will be or will not be participating at the recital.
• 3. Fee per piano/ keyboard lesson: 30 minutes lesson / 60.00 CHF, 45 minutes lesson / 90 CHF, 60 minutes lesson / 120.00 CHF. If SIMS will change the lesson fee, must notify the client in written by 30th June of the calendar year. By the increased lesson fee the client has a right to resign without the termination fee.
• 4. Fee per music theory lesson: 15 minutes lesson / 30.00 CHF, 30 minutes lesson/60.00 CHF.
• 5. If the lesson is taken at the student premises, the fee of 1.00 CHF/1 km is due (according the travel distance from the main Train station in Cham/Zurich/Baden – what is closer or according to the written agreement)
• 6. The dates of each year season will be published on SIMS web site and clients will be informed about this in written.
• 7. Students can begin lessons at any time during the year and tuition will be pro-rated.
• 8. Lessons are invoiced per term for the planned number of lessons. All payments must be made for each term in advance before the student’s first lesson.
• 9. Late Fees: If paid 7 days after the payment is due, a 15.00 CHF Late Fee will be added. If the fee is not paid within 15 days from receiving the invoice, the lessons will stop immediately. The lessons fees for the missed lessons due to a late payments are due and the missed lessons will not be made up.

Cancellation policy

• 1. If a lesson cannot take place due to the absent teacher the lesson will be made up at a later date.
• 2. The lesson that is missed by the student with a notice (at least 48 hours before the lesson) will be made up at a later date. SIMS offers online lessons as well. Online make up lessons are also possible.
• 3. The lesson that is missed by the student without any notice before the lesson for any reason will be charged in full and will not be made up. The lessons that is missed by student due to sickness (with doctor certificate) with a notice less than 48 hours will be made up later on (in person or online).
• 4. If more lessons are taken than paid in advance, then those will be added to the next invoice.
• 5. Registration includes enrollment for unlimited time. Anyone wishing to discontinue for any reason can resign by the end of first or last Term only (as of 31.12. or 31.07.) and must notify Swiss International Music School by a written termination form 30 days prior to their planned date of termination. There will be no refunds. Failure to give notice in writing 30 days in advance will result in a duty to pay the fee of all the lessons in the coming term.
